The Cat Who Spied on Magic
Mittens was not an ordinary cat. Every evening, she would curl by the window and watch the old garden next door like a tiny spy. Her green eyes would sparkle as she looked for secrets hiding among the flowers and moonlit shadows.
One stormy night, when lightning flashed across the sky like fiery ribbons, Mittens saw something truly amazing. A great bull with golden horns walked into the garden! But this wasn't a scary bull at all. He was gentle and kind, humming a soft song as he tended to a strange papaya tree that glowed in the dark.
Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck the tree's highest branch. The papayas began to shimmer like little stars! The bull carefully picked one glowing fruit and set it on a stone pedestal, then bowed his head as if saying thank you to the storm.
Mittens was so surprised that she tumbled off the windowsill with a loud THUMP!
The bull looked up and spotted the frightened cat. But he didn't chase her away. Instead, he whispered through the rain, "Little friend, come closer. This papaya grants courage to those who need it most."
Trembling but curious, Mittens crept into the garden. The bull smiled and nudged the glowing papaya toward her. When she took a bite, warm tingles filled her whole body. She didn't feel braver or stronger - she felt something better. She felt a strong desire to help others.
"True magic," the bull said kindly, "lives in a heart that wants to do good."
From that night on, Mittens still watched from her window like a spy, but now she was looking for friends who needed help. And whenever lightning flashed during a storm, she would whisper thank you to the kind bull who taught her that the best magic of all is kindness.
