The Cat Who Spied from the Palm Tree

palmpadelcatspy

Luna was no ordinary cat. While other cats chased mice or napped in sunny windows, Luna had a secret job. She was a spy.

Every afternoon, the golden cat would climb the tall palm tree behind the community park. From her perch high among the swaying fronds, she watched everything through eyes as green as emeralds. The children playing below never noticed her. They were too busy laughing and running.

Luna's favorite thing to watch was the padel court. Padel was like tennis, but played in a glass cage with special racquets. The children loved hitting the ball back and forth, making it *bop* and *bang* against the walls.

One day, Luna noticed something strange. A new boy named Max stood alone near the palm tree, clutching his padel racquet tightly. He looked sad. Every time someone invited him to play, he shook his head and moved further away.

Luna's spy whiskers twitched. She needed to investigate.

That evening, when the park was empty, Luna climbed down from her palm tree hideout and crept toward Max's house. Through an open window, she saw Max in his room, hitting a ball against his wall. *Thwack. Thwack.* He was practicing all alone!

The next day, Luna had a plan. When Max sat by the palm tree, looking lonely, the cat dropped something from above. It was her favorite cat toy—a small fuzzy ball that bounced perfectly.

Max looked up and saw Luna's golden face peeking through the palm fronds. She meowed loudly and dropped another toy.

"Are you... trying to help me practice?" Max whispered.

Luna purred and rubbed her face against the rough bark. Max giggled and started hitting the fuzzy ball with his racquet. Luna batted it back with her paw!

For a week, they practiced together. The cat who spied from the palm tree became the best padel coach in town.

When Max finally joined the other children for a game, everyone gasped. He was amazing! He hit every ball with confidence, smiling as he played.

That night, Luna curled up in her palm tree, purring louder than ever. Being a spy was exciting, but being a friend was even better.
