The Cat Who Saved Zombie

Lily loved her grandmother's old purple hat. It sparkled with tiny silver stars and smelled like vanilla cookies. Every Sunday, she wore it while exploring the magical forest behind her house.

One sunny afternoon, Lily's orange cat Mittens pounced on something strange near the papaya tree. A green zombie sat against the trunk, looking sad and lonely. His skin was bumpy like pickle texture, and his eyes were big and gentle.

"Hello?" Lily whispered, adjusting her sparkly hat.

The zombie looked up. "I'm Zom. I'm not scary. I'm just hungry."

Mittens rubbed against Zom's leg, purring loudly. The zombie's frown turned into a crooked smile. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a bright orange papaya.

"This is the last fruit from the Enchanted Garden," Zom explained. "But I can't climb trees anymore. My arms are too stiff."

Lily's eyes widened. The Enchanted Garden! Grandma had told her stories about it—a magical place where friendship could grow anything.

"Wait here!" Lily cried.

She grabbed her papaya from breakfast that morning and carefully climbed the tree. She placed the fruit on the lowest branch, then helped Zom reach it. But Zom couldn't climb.

Then Lily had an idea. She took off her purple hat and placed it upside down like a basket. Mittens jumped inside, and together they lifted the papaya down to Zom.

As Zom ate the papaya, something magical happened. His green skin began to glow, turning soft and warm. His stiff arms moved freely. He wasn't a zombie anymore—he was a regular boy!

"Thank you!" Zom cheered. "The friendship broke the curse!"

From that day on, Zom, Lily, and Mittens were best friends. And Lily's magical hat? It glowed even brighter than before, because the best magic of all is the magic of true friendship.
