The Cat Who Ran with Starlight

Luna's cat Whiskers was no ordinary cat. Every night at midnight, he would sit by the window and meow at the stars, his golden eyes glowing like tiny moons.

One Tuesday, Luna woke to find Whiskers running in circles around her backyard padel court—the one her dad had built last summer. But this wasn't normal running. Whiskers left paw prints that shimmered with stardust, each step glowing blue before fading into the grass.

"Whiskers?" Luna whispered, following him.

The padel court began to hum. The wire mesh walls sparkled. Suddenly, the ground beneath the court turned into liquid silver, and up through the surface rose a magnificent creature—a great white bull whose horns were made of crystallized moonlight.

"I am Taurus," the bull spoke in a voice like distant thunder. "Guardian of the Autumn Sky. I fell while chasing a comet."

Whiskers stopped running and approached the star-bull, rubbing against his leg like they were old friends.

"Only those who run with starlight can help me return," Taurus said kindly. "Your cat has been visiting my constellation for years."

Luna's heart raced. "Me? Help?"

The bull lowered his giant head. "Stand on the padel court and wish upon the brightest star. But you must run toward it with all your heart."

Luna stepped onto the court. Her bare feet tingled. She looked up and saw the brightest star twinkling above her house. She took a breath and began running.

With each step, she felt lighter. The padel court dissolved beneath her, and suddenly she was running on a bridge of stardust, Whiskers racing beside her, the great bull flying overhead. They ran past planets and comets, through clouds of purple and gold, until they reached a brilliant cluster of stars.

Taurus stepped into his place in the constellation, his horns glowing once more.

"Thank you, Luna," he rumbled. "For running with hope."

She found herself back in her backyard, Whiskers curled beside her, the padel court ordinary once more. But from that night on, whenever she looked at the autumn sky, the bull's constellation seemed to wink at her, and she knew that magic was real—and it lived in the heart of anyone brave enough to run toward their dreams.
