The Cat Who Ran to the Stars
Lily was sitting in her backyard when something strange happened. A soft golden cat with twinkling eyes appeared from behind the oak tree. The cat started running toward the old garden shed, then looked back at Lily as if to say, "Follow me!"
Lily followed the running cat around the shed, and her mouth dropped open. Where the dusty garden used to be, now stood a magnificent pyramid made of crystal that shimmered like rainbows in the sunlight.
"Come inside," whispered a voice. Lily turned to see her best friend Sam peeking from behind the pyramid's entrance. "The cat brought me here too!"
Inside the crystal pyramid, everything glowed with soft light. Stars swirled around them like fireflies. The golden cat sat in the center, purring a melody that made Lily feel warm inside.
"This pyramid protects wishes," Sam explained. "But only wishes made for others work here."
Lily thought about her grandmother, who missed seeing the beautiful ocean from her childhood home. Closing her eyes, she made her wish.
Suddenly, the walls of the pyramid showed sparkling waves, seashells, and golden sand. Her grandmother's favorite beach appeared right before them! The cat purred louder, and the image floated outside the pyramid, becoming a magical painting that would never fade.
"Now it's your turn," Lily told Sam.
Sam wished for his little sister to have a unicorn friend. Whoosh! A tiny unicorn with a silver mane appeared, trotting happily around them.
The golden cat stood up and touched noses with both children. "You learned the secret," the cat said. "Magic grows when we care for others more than ourselves."
Outside, Lily's grandmother was laughing at the painting of her beach. Sam's sister was playing with her new unicorn friend. And Lily knew the best magic wasn't in the pyramid at all—it was in having a friend to share adventures with.
The cat ran toward the sky, becoming a star that shines extra bright on nights when children make wishes for others.
