The Cat Who Pitched Stardust

Tommy loved baseball more than anything. Every afternoon after school, he'd practice pitching in his backyard, dreaming of the day he'd play for the Stars. But there was one problem: Tommy couldn't throw very far.

One evening, as the sky turned purple and gold, a calico cat with emerald eyes hopped onto his fence. She watched him pitch for a while, then meowed loudly.

"You're holding it all wrong," said a soft, sparkly voice.

Tommy dropped his baseball in surprise. "Did you just talk?"

The cat nodded. "I'm Luna. I used to pitch for the Moonbeam Mariners until I retired to Earth." She licked her paw daintily. "Your problem isn't your arm. It's your imagination. You're throwing a regular ball when you should be throwing starlight."

Luna pulled a shimmering silver cable from behind her ear—like fairy floss made of moonbeams. "Wrap this around your baseball three times. But only while thinking of your biggest dream."

Tommy's heart pounded. He wrapped the glowing cable around his ball while wishing with all his might to pitch for a real team. The baseball began to sparkle!

"Now throw it!" Luna cheered.

Tommy threw. The ball soared higher and higher, leaving a trail of rainbow light. It kept going and going—up past the trees, past the clouds, into the deep velvet sky where it burst into a hundred tiny twinkling stars!

"Wow!" Tommy gasped, running after it, but Luna purred and tapped his leg with her tail.

"The stars are your pitches now, silly. Every time you throw, you'll hit your mark. But you must promise to always help others learn their own magic."

Tommy nodded solemnly. He became the best pitcher in his league, but he was also the kindest—always helping teammates find their own special magic. And sometimes, on especially beautiful evenings, Luna would appear on the sidelines, her emerald eyes shining, watching the boy who learned that the real magic wasn't in the cable or the baseball, but in believing in yourself and sharing that belief with others.
