The Cat Who Painted with Lightning

Midnight was a small black cat with bright yellow eyes, and she was absolutely terrified of storms. Every time dark clouds gathered above her cozy village, she would hide under the porch, trembling.

One rainy afternoon, as water puddles began to form in the garden, Midnight heard a tiny cry. A baby bird had fallen from its nest during a sudden gust of wind and was huddled on a low branch, shivering and afraid.

"I want to help," Midnight whispered to herself, "but I'm too scared of the lightning."

Just then, a brilliant flash of lightning streaked across the sky. But instead of running away, Midnight noticed something strange. The lightning had reflected in a water puddle below, creating a shimmering golden pathway that seemed to sparkle with tiny rainbow colors.

"Curious," Midnight murmured, taking a small step forward.

Another bolt of lightning flashed, and this time she saw it clearly—the lightning was painting pictures in the water! Beautiful shapes of dancing stars, smiling moons, and even what looked like cats playing in puddles appeared for just a moment before fading away.

"It's not scary at all," Midnight realized with wonder. "It's beautiful!"

The little cat gathered her courage. She climbed the tree carefully, guided by the magical lightning reflections in the water below. Each flash showed her exactly which branch was safe to step on, creating a glowing pathway up to the frightened baby bird.

"Don't worry," Midnight purred gently, reaching the tiny creature. "I'll help you get home."

With the baby bird safely on her back, Midnight climbed down, following the beautiful lightning-painted path in the water puddles below. She returned the baby bird to its grateful mother, who sang a lovely song of thanks.

From that day on, Midnight was never afraid of storms again. She understood that even things that seem scary at first can be beautiful and helpful. And whenever it rained, all the neighborhood children would come to watch Midnight sit by the water puddles, smiling as the lightning painted its magical pictures just for her.

The little black cat had learned an important lesson: sometimes the very things we fear are actually wonderful gifts, if only we're brave enough to see them clearly.
