The Cat Who Painted the Sky

Mango was a small cat with the brightest orange fur anyone had ever seen. She lived behind the old television shop, where a thick black cable snaked along the wall like a sleeping snake.

One rainy afternoon, something magical happened. Mango was running from a sudden shower when her paw accidentally brushed against the cable. ZAP! A spark of orange light jumped from the cable to her fur, then raced up toward the sky like a shooting star in reverse.

The orange spark didn't disappear. It painted a glowing line across the gray clouds, turning them sunset pink and golden purple. Mango's orange hair stood straight up with surprise!

Every time Mango ran past that cable now, another spark would fly up and paint something new in the sky. Sometimes dolphins. Sometimes mountains. Once, an entire castle made of cotton candy.

Soon, children from all over the neighborhood would gather behind the television shop, watching Mango running back and forth. They would shout their wishes. "A dragon!" "A spaceship!" "My grandma's house in Florida!" And each time, the cable would send up orange sparks that painted exactly what they asked for in the clouds.

But one day, the old cable started flickering. It was tired from making so much magic. Mango's orange fur drooped. How could they keep painting dreams without their special cable?

That's when the children had an idea. They brought their own orange things—orange crayons, orange ribbons, even an old orange scarf. They tied them all along the black cable like lights on a Christmas tree.

Mango ran along the cable again, and this time the magic was bigger than ever. Every child's orange contribution added to the spell. Together, they painted not just clouds, but a whole orange sunset that stretched across the whole world, reminding everyone that the most beautiful magic happens when friends share their gifts.
