The Cat Who Painted the Moon
Marmalade was no ordinary **cat**. His fur was the color of a sunset, splashed with patches of white like clouds drifting across an autumn sky. Every evening, he'd sit on his favorite windowsill, watching the world turn golden as the sun dipped below the horizon.
One magical night, Marmalade discovered something extraordinary. Behind the old oak tree in Mrs. Willow's garden lay a hidden **pool** — not a swimming pool, but a pool of silver light that rippled like water, even though there was no wind.
Curious whiskers twitching, Marmalade crept closer. The pool reflected not just the moon, but something more. Colors danced across its surface — ruby reds, emerald greens, and the brightest **orange** anyone had ever seen.
"What are you doing here, little friend?" A tiny voice squeaked.
Marmalade jumped! A small mouse with fur like starlight peeked from behind a mushroom.
"I'm... I'm not sure," Marmalade admitted. "The colors pulled me here."
"The Moon Pool!" the mouse squeaked joyfully. "It shows you your heart's true dream! What do you see?"
Marmalade gazed into the shimmering silver. He saw himself painting — not with brushes, but with his tail! Swirling streaks of orange, yellow, and pink across the night sky, creating the most beautiful sunset anyone had ever seen.
"I want to paint sunsets!" Marmalade declared.
The Moon Pool glowed brighter. Suddenly, Marmalade felt lighter than air. His paws left the ground, and he floated upward, higher and higher, until he reached the clouds themselves.
The mouse waved from below. "Remember, Marmalade — the best dreams are the ones you share!"
And that night, for the first time ever, the sunset was more beautiful than anyone had seen. Streaks of orange, pink, and gold swirled together like a painter's masterpiece. Everyone in town stopped to watch.
Marmalade returned to his windowsill, his heart full. He had discovered something wonderful: the magic wasn't just in the pool — it was inside him all along, waiting to shine.
Sometimes, he still visits the Moon Pool. But now, he brings his mouse friend along. Because the mouse was right — the best dreams are indeed the ones you share.
And every evening at sunset, if you look closely at the orange and pink streaks across the sky, you might just see a very happy cat painting another beautiful day goodbye.
