The Cat Who Made Dreams Bloom
Mango was no ordinary cat. His fur shimmered like sunlight on water, and his green eyes held secrets. Every afternoon, he padded through Mrs. Chen's garden, where the papaya tree grew heavy with sweet fruit and orange blossoms scent the air.
But Mango's favorite spot was the old pool behind the garden shed. Its surface reflected the sky like a magical mirror. One sweltering afternoon, Mango peered into the water and saw something strange—ripples where there should be stillness.
A zombie floated to the surface!
Mango's fur stood on end. But this wasn't a scary zombie like in stories. It was a small, green creature with mossy skin and flowers growing from its head. Its eyes were sad, like rain clouds.
"Hello?" Mango meowed softly.
The zombie blinked. "I'm Zizi," it whispered. "I was the garden's guardian sprite until I fell into a deep sleep. I've been forgotten for so long."
Mango's heart felt warm. He trotted to the papaya tree and knocked down the ripest fruit with his paw. Then he gathered fallen orange blossoms in his tail.
"Eat these," Mango purred, pushing the papaya toward Zizi. "And smell these flowers. They'll help you remember."
Zizi took a bite of papaya. Her eyes widened. The sweetness made her skin glow. She inhaled the orange scent, and flowers bloomed brighter on her head. Color returned to her cheeks.
"Thank you, brave cat," Zizi said. "I remember now! I protect this garden's magic."
She touched the pool's surface, and it bubbled with silver light. "Now this water can show anyone their happiest dreams."
Mango looked into the pool and saw himself—flying among stars, dancing with butterflies, sharing papaya with all his friends.
Every day after that, Mango visited Zizi. They shared fruit and stories, watching dreamers peek into the magical pool. Mango learned that friendship and kindness can wake up even the most forgotten hearts.
And sometimes, when the wind blows just right, you can still see them together—a glowing cat and a flower-crowned sprite, making magic bloom in the most unexpected places.
