The Cat Who Hit Stars

Luna was a small gray cat with the softest fur in all of Key West. She lived behind the old palm tree on Coconut Lane, where she watched children play every day. Her favorite thing was baseball — the way the ball soared through the air like a captured moonbeam.

One afternoon, something magical tumbled from the palm fronds above. It wasn't a coconut. It was a tiny golden padel racket, no bigger than Luna's paw! As she touched it with her nose, the racket glowed warm and bright.

"Whispers star-chaser," a voice rustled from the palm leaves. "You've been chosen."

Luna's whiskers trembled with excitement. The racket floated beside her as if it had always belonged there. That evening, when all the children had gone home, Luna crept to the baseball diamond under the first stars.

A tiny star sparkled above her — perfectly round and waiting. Luna tapped it with her magical padel, and WHOOSH! The star sailed across the sky, trailing rainbow light.

"Again!" she purred, spinning and hitting another star. Soon, Luna was dancing through the outfield, batting stars into constellations. The Big Dipper. Orion's Belt. The Little Bear. Each star she hit found its perfect place in the night sky.

"Thank you, Luna," the stars twinkled. "For thousands of years, we waited for someone who loved baseball enough to send us home."

Luna curled up beneath her palm tree that night, the golden padel tucked safely beside her. She had discovered something wonderful: sometimes the smallest creatures can do the biggest things, and the games we love can become magical adventures beyond our wildest dreams.

From that night on, every time children played baseball, Luna watched with special knowing. The stars above were winking back at their old friend — the cat who had brought them home.
