The Cat Who Hit for the Stars
Luna was a small orange cat with a very big dream. She didn't dream about catching mice or napping in sunbeams. She dreamed about **baseball**.
Every afternoon, Luna sat by the window watching the children in the park. They'd swing their bats, run around the bases, and cheer for each other. Luna's tail twitched with excitement. If only cats could play!
One evening, something magical appeared in Luna's garden. A tiny golden **pyramid** no bigger than a baseball, glowing softly in the twilight. Luna's whiskers trembled as she crept closer. The pyramid pulsed with warmth, and suddenly—POOF!
Luna wasn't in her garden anymore. She stood on a field made of stardust, surrounded by constellations that looked like baseball players. A figure approached—a silver cat wearing a cap embroidered with a crescent moon.
"Welcome, Luna," said the silver cat. "I am Orion, coach of the Star League. We've been waiting for someone with your passion."
Luna's eyes stretched wide. "Me? But I'm just a regular cat. I don't even have a bat!"
Orion smiled. "In the Star League, what matters most isn't what you have. It's what's in your heart."
He handed Luna a bat made from a falling star. It felt perfect in her paws. For the first time in her life, Luna stepped up to the plate. A pitch came hurtling toward her—a cometball!
She swung with all her might. CRACK! The ball sailed higher and higher, leaving a trail of sparkles across the sky.
"Home run!" Orion cheered. "Luna, you've just hit the very first star into the night sky!"
Luna looked up. Her hit had become the brightest star in the constellation Orion.
"You see," Orion explained, "dreaming big creates magic. And when you share that magic with others, it shines forever."
Luna woke up curled in her garden bed the next morning, the golden pyramid gone. But now, whenever she looked up at the stars, she knew that somewhere out there, cats were playing the most wonderful game of baseball in the universe.
And sometimes, if you look closely at the constellation Orion, you can still see a tiny orange cat swinging for the stars, reminding everyone that no dream is too big, and anyone—anyone at all—can make their magic shine.
