The Cat Who Dreamed of Egypt
Lily loved running through the meadow behind her house, her bare feet dancing in the clover. But her cat, Cleo, never ran. Cleo was an orange tabby who spent most of her day napping in sunbeams.
One afternoon, Lily discovered something strange. Cleo was sleeping in an unusual pose—front paws stretched straight out, head held high, gazing mysteriously at the clouds. She looked just like the sphinx statue in Lily's storybook!
"You're a little sphinx!" Lily giggled, tickling Cleo's belly.
Cleo's eyes popped open, gleaming with ancient wisdom. "Indeed," the cat said in a voice like honey and sand. "I am Cleopatra, Guardian of the Secret Vitamin."
Lily gasped. "Cats can't talk!"
"Sphinx cats can," Cleo replied, stretching. "I've been waiting for you to notice. Follow me!"
Cleo trotted toward the old oak tree at the meadow's edge. Running after her, Lily noticed Cleo's orange fur now shimmered with golden hieroglyphs.
Beneath the tree's roots lay a tiny chamber filled with glowing crystals. "These are courage vitamins," Cleo explained. "One taste gives you the bravery to face any fear. But beware—they only work if you share them."
Lily took a crystal. It tasted like sunshine and adventure! Suddenly, she wasn't afraid of the dark forest anymore. But she thought of her friend Sam, who was scared of swimming.
"Sam needs this more than me," Lily said, tucking the crystal into her pocket.
Cleo purred with approval. "You've discovered the real secret—courage grows when shared."
That summer, Lily and Sam shared the courage vitamins with everyone who needed them. And every evening, the little sphinx cat curled up between them, dreaming of Egypt and the children whose bravery had begun with a single act of kindness.
