The Cat Who Dared to Be Kind
Barnaby was a small orange cat with the biggest paws in the village. Every day, he watched the children play and wished he could join their adventures. But Barnaby was shy.
One sunny afternoon, Barnaby heard something strange. Thump. Thump. Thump. Something was coming from the Dark Forest!
"A zombie!" whispered Tommy, dropping his toy sword. "A zombie is coming!"
Barnaby's heart beat fast. He had heard stories about zombies — slow, scary creatures that walked like broken puppets. But something didn't feel right. Whatever was making those sounds wasn't slow. It was RUNNING!
The bushes shook. Out burst not a zombie, but the biggest bull anyone had ever seen! His name was Thunder, and he was galloping like the wind.
Thunder stopped, panting. His big brown eyes were sad. "I'm not a zombie," he mooed softly. "I'm just lonely. Everyone runs away because I'm so big."
Barnaby crept forward. He saw that Thunder's fur was soft and golden, just like sunshine. The bull wasn't scary at all — he was frightened!
"Hello," said Barnaby bravely. "I'm Barnaby. Would you like to play?"
Thunder's eyes widened. "Nobody's ever asked me that before."
Soon, Barnaby was riding on Thunder's back as they galloped through meadows. The other children watched in amazement, then joined in. They realized Thunder wasn't a monster — he was the friendliest bull in the world.
That day, Barnaby learned something important: sometimes, the things we fear are just misunderstood. And sometimes, the bravest thing you can do is say hello.
