The Cat Who Could Text
Lily was the kind of girl who believed in magic, even when grown-ups said it didn't exist. She had a fluffy orange cat named Mango who slept on her pillow every night and purred like a tiny motor. But Mango was no ordinary cat—he had a secret.
One rainy afternoon, Lily was playing games on her mom's old iPhone when she dropped it. To her surprise, Mango batted it with his paw and somehow opened a messaging app. Then the impossible happened—words appeared on the screen: "HELLO LILY. THIS IS MANGO. YOUR CAT."
Lily gasped. "You can talk?"
"ONLY THROUGH YOUR PHONE," Mango typed with surprisingly fast paws. "I'M ACTUALLY A MAGIC CAT FROM THE KINGDOM OF PURRINGTON. I'VE BEEN YOUR FRIEND AND PROTECTOR SINCE YOU WERE A BABY."
Mango explained that magical cats were sent to be friends with children who needed them most. He had chosen Lily because she had the kindest heart in the whole world. Every night while she slept, he sent magical dreams to help her feel brave and happy.
"But why tell me now?" Lily asked, scratching behind his ears the way he loved.
"BECAUSE," Mango typed, "SOMEONE NEEDS OUR HELP. MY SISTER IN PURRINGTON IS LOST, AND ONLY A HUMAN FRIEND CAN SAVE HER."
Lily's heart raced with excitement. An adventure! With her cat! Through the iPhone screen, Mango showed her a magical portal that appeared when she tapped three times on a star-shaped icon. Hand in paw (well, hand in screen), they stepped through together into a world made of glowing clouds and rainbow bridges.
They found Mango's sister trapped in a tower made of giant yarn balls. With Lily's clever thinking and Mango's magical purring, they rescued her and made a new friend. When they returned home, Lily realized something wonderful: she had always known Mango was special, but now she understood that the best friends are the ones who believe in magic together.
That night, as Mango curled up on her pillow, Lily smiled. Some secrets were worth keeping, especially when they came from the heart.
