The Cat Who Could Swim Through Phones

Lily found the cat behind the old swimming pool, its orange fur matted with leaves. The cat blinked at her with one gold eye and one blue eye.

"You're friendly," Lily said, reaching out. The cat purred like a tiny motor and rubbed its cheek against her hand. "I'll call you Sunny."

That afternoon, Lily's dad handed her his iPhone. "Can you check if there's a message from Grandma?" he asked, setting it on the patio table near the pool.

Sunny the cat crept closer. She tapped the screen with her paw—once, twice. Suddenly, the iPhone glowed with rainbow light!

"What did you do?" Lily gasped.

Sunny meowed and dove straight into the phone's screen, disappearing like a cat into a box. But instead of fitting, she tumbled through—splash!—right into a magical pool inside the iPhone.

Lily gasped. A blue USB cable lay coiled on the table. Without thinking, she grabbed it and jumped in after Sunny.

She tumbled through swirling light and landed with a splash in a pool made entirely of giggling water. Fish made of emojis swam around her. 🐠🐟🐡

"Sunny!" she called.

The cat emerged from behind a floating Instagram photo, shaking her fur. Water droplets flew everywhere, but they weren't water—they were tiny sparkling hair bows! 🎀

"This is Grandma's phone," Lily realized. "All her memories are here!"

Sunny led her through photo albums that came alive. There was Grandma as a little girl, dancing in a real pool. There was Dad's birthday party. There was baby Lily taking her first steps.

"My phone message," Lily remembered. She found Grandma's newest photo—a picture of cookies she'd baked. The message beside it said: *Come visit soon, sweetie! Love you!*

Sunny purred and jumped, splashing emoji fish everywhere. Lily giggled and grabbed the cable. "Ready to go home?"

They tumbled back through the screen, landing on the patio as the rainbow light faded. Lily's dad walked up. "Find anything?"

"Grandma wants us to visit," Lily said, hugging Sunny. "And I made a new friend."

"A cat?" Dad laughed. "Since when?"

"Since she showed me that the best adventures," Lily whispered to Sunny, "are the ones you find by accident."

Sunny purred. Some cats chase mice. This one chased adventures, right through a phone screen. And Lily couldn't wait to see where they'd go next.
