The Cat Who Collected Stars

Lily loved running through the meadow behind her house, her bare feet tickling the grass. Every evening at sunset, she'd race the wind all the way to the old oak tree where something magical waited.

A sleek silver cat with bright emerald eyes appeared only at twilight. This was no ordinary cat — this cat could speak!

"You're late again," the cat purred, flicking its tail. "I've almost finished collecting today's stars."

Lily gasped. In the cat's furry paws sat three tiny, glowing stars, still warm from where they'd fallen from the sky.

"What do you do with them?" Lily asked, reaching out to touch one.

"I give them to children who need extra light in their lives," the cat explained. "Last week, I gave one to a boy afraid of the dark. Now he dreams of galaxies."

Lily's grandma had been feeling lonely since Grandpa passed away. Maybe a star could help?

Suddenly, the silver cat placed a shimmering hat upon Lily's head. It looked ordinary, but when she wore it, Lily could see star-trails everywhere — tiny footprints of fallen stars scattered across the meadow.

"Now you can help too," the cat said. "But remember, the best magic is shared."

Together, Lily and the cat spent the whole evening running through fields, climbing hills, and searching ditches for fallen stars. Each time they found one, it pulsed with happiness in their hands.

When they finally reached Grandma's house, seven stars twinkled between them. Grandma's eyes widened as they placed each glowing star around her room like tiny night-lights.

"These are beautiful," Grandma whispered, tears sparkling in her eyes. "And look — they make constellations! There's Grandpa's favorite, the Big Dipper."

Lily hugged the silver cat tight. "Thank you for helping me make my friend smile again."

"Anytime," the cat purred. "That's what friends do — they chase stars together."

And every night since, Lily and her star-collecting cat can still be seen running through the meadow, their laughter dancing among the fireflies, always searching for the next fallen star to share with someone who needs a little extra light.
