The Cat Who Collected Dreams

Mango was no ordinary cat. With fur the color of sunshine and eyes like two polished emeralds, she spent her days sleeping in the botanical garden and her nights chasing something nobody else could see.

The garden held two secrets. The first was the Crystal Pyramid, a glass structure in the center that shimmered like captured starlight. The second was Old Palm, a tree with gnarled branches that looked like wise fingers reaching for the moon.

One warm evening, as Mango dozed under Old Palm's leaves, she heard the tree speak. "The pyramid has gone dark, little friend. Dreams are trapped inside."

Mango's ears perked up. She had always noticed the pyramid glowing softly at night, but tonight it stood dark and cold.

"Only a cat can enter the Dream Pyramid," Old Palm continued. "Cats walk between worlds. You must climb to the top and touch the star crystal. Only then will dreams flow again."

Mango's tail twitched with excitement. She loved climbing. She sprinted toward the pyramid, her paws silent on the grass. The glass sides were smooth, but Mango found tiny ridges to grip. Higher and higher she climbed, until the whole garden looked like a patchwork quilt below.

At the top, a crystal pulsed with weak light. Mango reached out with one paw and—

Whoosh!

Thousands of dreams burst forth: children flying on butterflies, dragons sharing tea parties, oceans made of chocolate. They swirled around Mango like glittery tornadoes before floating up to the night sky, where they would find sleeping children everywhere.

Mango climbed down, purring loudly. Old Palm's leaves rustled with applause.

"You restored the magic, brave cat," the palm tree whispered. "Tonight, children everywhere will dream wonderful dreams because of you."

Mango curled up under the palm tree, her fur warm against the bark. She knew something important now: even a small cat could do something very big. And sometimes, the most ordinary places held the most extraordinary magic.

As she drifted to sleep, the Crystal Pyramid glowed softly above, and Mango dreamed of nothing at all—because sometimes, the best dream is knowing you made someone else's dream come true.
