The Cat Who Chased Lightning

Luna was a small orange cat with big green eyes and an even bigger imagination. Every night, she sat by the window, watching the sky dream.

One stormy evening, when her family was sleeping, Luna saw something amazing. A bolt of lightning flashed across the dark sky — but it didn't just disappear. It danced! It zigged and zagged like a playful kitten, and Luna could swear she saw tiny sparks giggling as they fell.

"Hello?" Luna meowed softly. To her surprise, the lightning bolt flashed back, brighter this time!

Luna knew what she had to do. She jumped off the windowsill and started running. Running faster than she ever had before, running through the quiet house, running toward the back door which the family had left open just a crack.

Outside, the storm was magical. Raindrops sparkled like tiny diamonds, and the lightning bolt was waiting for her, hovering just above the grass. It wasn't scary at all — it was friendly!

"Want to play?" the lightning seemed to say, flashing gently.

Luna ran and ran, chasing the light across the garden. The lightning led her to an old oak tree where a tiny baby bird had fallen from its nest, shivering in the rain.

Luna understood. The lightning hadn't wanted to play — it needed help!

The little cat carefully climbed the tree, carrying the baby bird in her mouth (ever so gently!) and placed it back in its nest. The mother bird sang with gratitude, and the lightning bolt flashed three happy times.

"Thank you, Luna," whispered the wind. "You're brave and kind."

Luna padded back inside, curled up on her soft bed, and purred herself to sleep. She had discovered something wonderful: the best adventures aren't just about running and playing — they're about helping friends in need.

And sometimes, even lightning needs a hero.
