The Cat Who Chased Lightning

Lily loved watching her dad play padel in the park. Every weekend, she'd sit on the bench with her iphone, taking videos of his matches. One evening, as they packed up to leave, the sky turned purple. Thunder rumbled like a hungry tummy.

"Race you home!" Dad laughed.

But Lily spotted something under the bench—a tiny orange cat with eyes that gleamed like polished amber. The cat meowed, then bolted toward the old padel court as lightning cracked the sky open.

"Wait!" Lily chased after it, her iphone clutched tight in her hand.

The cat stopped at the court, but something was wrong. The court wasn't there anymore. Instead, a swirling portal of light shimmered where the net should be. Lightning kept striking around it, but the light didn't fade.

The cat stepped through and looked back expectantly.

Lily's heart thumped like a drum. She stepped through...

She gasped. She was in the clouds! A magical padel court floated in the sky, glowing softly. Stars hung like tennis balls in nets of silver light. The orange cat stood there, but now it was the size of a lion, with wings like a dragonfly.

"You found me," the cat purred. "I've been waiting for someone brave enough to follow."

The cat tapped Lily's iphone with one giant paw, and suddenly the screen showed her reflection—but with cat ears and lightning bolts in her hair.

"Every storm carries magic," the cat explained. "Most people hide from it. But you chased after it. That's why you can see the Cloud Court."

Lily's iphone buzzed. A message appeared: *WELCOME, STORM CHASER. YOUR ADVENTURE BEGINS NOW.*

The cat winked. "See? Magic finds the brave. Next time lightning comes, don't run away."

Lily nodded solemnly. The cat touched her forehead with a paw—zing! A tiny lightning bolt appeared there, glowing softly.

Then everything spun...

Lily blinked. She was back at the park, her dad calling her name. The storm had passed. The orange cat was gone, but her iphone showed a new photo: herself, the cat, and the Cloud Court, all floating among stars.

That night, Lily taped the photo above her bed. Somewhere out there, a winged cat was waiting. And next time lightning flashed across the sky, Lily wouldn't hide. She would chase it.
