The Cat Who Chased Lightning

Mittens was a small orange cat who loved napping in sunbeams and chasing butterflies. But what she loved most was watching storms from her window.

One evening, as lightning flashed across the purple sky, Mittens noticed something strange. A goldfish in a bowl on the windowsill was glowing! With each lightning bolt, the goldfish named Sparkle shimmered brighter.

"I can grant you one wish," Sparkle bubbled. "But only during the lightning storm!"

Mittens thought carefully. She didn't want more treats or a softer bed. She wanted adventure!

"I wish to see where lightning comes from!" she meowed.

Suddenly, Mittens was lifted into the air, cradled in Sparkle's magical bubble. They soared through clouds, past rainbows, and straight into the heart of the storm.

Below them, they saw a magnificent bull with golden horns galloping across a meadow. The bull looked fierce, but Mittens sensed sadness in his eyes.

"That's Buster," said Sparkle. "He's the Lightning Guardian. But he's lonely guarding the sky all alone."

Mittens's heart swelled with compassion. She knew exactly what to do.

"Let's be his friend!" she cried.

They descended gently, and Buster stopped running. His golden horns crackled with lightning, but his eyes were kind. Mittens purred and rubbed against his giant leg. Buster lowered his head, and Mittens hopped onto his back.

"Would you like to race across the clouds?" Buster asked, his voice like distant thunder.

"Yes!" cheered Mittens.

Together they galloped through the storm, Sparkle illuminating their path. The lightning wasn't scary anymore — it was beautiful, like nature's fireworks.

As dawn approached, Sparkle's magic faded. Buster returned them safely home, but not before promising to visit. And sometimes, when storms roll in, Mittens sees a familiar golden-horned silhouette running through the clouds, and she knows friendship can be found in the most unexpected places.

Mittens learned that courage isn't about being fearless — it's about being kind, even to lonely lightning guardians. And the best adventures are the ones shared with friends.
