The Cat Who Chased Lightning
Luna was no ordinary cat. While other cats chased mice or slept in sunbeams, Luna chased storms.
One rainy afternoon, as thunder rumbled like a giant's tummy, Luna spotted something peculiar in the park. A magnificent stone sphinx sat beside the pond, its wings folded, its eyes watching the sky. Luna had never seen a sphinx before—especially not one in her neighborhood!
"Greetings, small one," the sphinx rumbled. "I've been waiting for someone brave enough to help."
Luna's tail twitched with excitement. "Help? With what?"
The sphinx nodded toward the old oak tree. Behind it stood a massive bull, but not like any bull Luna had seen. His coat shimmered like moonlight, and his horns were made of pure crystal. The poor creature looked terrified, frozen in place.
"This is Star-Bull," the sphinx explained. "He travels between worlds, but a magical fence traps him here. Only lightning can break the spell, and someone must catch it in exactly the right moment."
Luna's eyes widened. She loved lightning!
Just then, she noticed something shiny near the bull's hoof—an iPhone someone had dropped. The screen flickered strangely as storm clouds gathered overhead.
"That phone has magic in it," the sphinx whispered. "If you can make it capture lightning's power, it will break the spell."
Luna's heart raced. Thunder crashed. Lightning flashed—and she knew what to do.
She darted toward the iPhone, batting it upright with her paw. CRACK! A bolt of lightning struck. The phone glowed with brilliant blue light, then shot a beam straight at the magical fence around Star-Bull.
The fence shattered into sparkling dust. Star-Bull bounded forward, nuzzling Luna's cheek with his crystal nose.
"Thank you, little friend," he said. "You're braver than lions, faster than eagles, and kinder than anyone I've met."
The sphinx smiled. "True magic isn't in lightning or phones—it's in a brave heart that helps others."
Luna purred proudly. She'd chased more than a storm today; she'd chased adventure and found friendship. And that was the best magic of all.
