The Cat Who Chased Lightning
Mittens was no ordinary cat. While other cats chased mice or napped in sunbeams, Mittens chased storms.
One rainy afternoon, as thunder rumbled like a giant's tummy, Mittens spotted something glowing in the grass. It was an iPhone, its screen shimmering like a fallen star. Most cats would ignore it, but Mittens was curious.
"What do you do?" she meowed softly.
Suddenly, a bolt of lightning crackled across the sky—ZAP!—and struck nearby. The iPhone's screen flickered to life, showing swirling colors like a tiny galaxy.
Mittens noticed something strange. A white cable lay curled beside the phone, but this wasn't just any cable. When lightning flashed again, the cable began to glow silver, humming with magical energy.
"You're not just a phone," Mittens whispered. "You're a lightning-catcher!"
The iPhone's screen showed a map to something wonderful. With the glowing cable wrapped around her paw like a magical bracelet, Mittens followed the path through meadows and forests.
She found an old owl sitting alone in a hollow tree. "I'm lonely," the owl sighed. "No one visits because they're afraid of the dark."
Mittens had an idea. She connected the iPhone to the glowing cable, and the phone projected tiny stars onto the tree's ceiling—hundreds of sparkling lights that filled the darkness with wonder.
"Beautiful!" the owl hooted joyfully.
Other animals gathered: rabbits, squirrels, even a shy fox. They sat together, amazed by the magical light show that only appeared during storms.
From that day on, Mittens learned something important: the things that seem scary—like lightning and darkness—can bring friends together when you look at them with curiosity and kindness.
And whenever storms came, you could find Mittens and her friends, sharing magical moments in their cozy tree, all because one curious cat dared to wonder what lightning could do.
