The Cat Who Chased Lightning

Mittens was a curious orange cat who lived with Mrs. Higgins, a kind old lady who gave her vitamins every morning. "These make you strong and brave," she'd say, dropping a little chewy tablet into Mittens' food bowl. Mittens didn't mind—she loved treats of any kind.

One stormy afternoon, Mittens accidentally knocked over the vitamin bottle. A shiny blue tablet rolled across the floor and disappeared under the old porch. Determined to find her treasure, Mittens squeezed through a loose board and discovered something amazing: a tiny golden pyramid hidden in the dirt, glowing with an inner light.

As Mittens touched the pyramid with her paw, CRACK! Lightning flashed overhead, and suddenly a spark jumped from her fur to the pyramid. A tiny creature no bigger than a mouse appeared—made entirely of crackling lightning energy!

"Thank you, friend!" the little spark creature squeaked. "I've been trapped in that pyramid for a hundred years. Only someone brave enough to chase storms could free me."

Mittens watched in wonder as the lightning creature danced around her. "I'm Sparky," the little being said. "And you, cat, have the kindest heart I've ever seen. That vitamin you ate? It was magic—the only kind that lets cats see what others cannot."

From that day on, every time lightning flashed across the sky, Mittens would race to the porch to visit her friend Sparky. They learned that true magic isn't about special powers or golden pyramids. The real magic was friendship—and being brave enough to explore the unknown.

Mrs. Higgins never understood why her cat loved storms so much. But Mittens knew: somewhere in the lightning, a tiny friend was waiting, and together they had discovered that the greatest adventures start with being curious about the little mysteries right under our paws.
