The Cat Who Caught Stars

Mabel was an orange cat who lived in a house with a very special baseball field in the backyard. Not just any baseball field—this one glowed at night.

One evening, as the sun dipped below the trees, Mabel saw something amazing. A baseball sat alone on home plate, shimmering like it held a piece of the sunset inside it. Mabel crept closer, her whiskers twitching with curiosity.

Suddenly, the ball rolled! It bounced toward the garden, and Mabel couldn't resist. She started running, paws padding softly on the grass, chasing the magical ball as it led her through the gate and into the meadow beyond.

The ball stopped next to a sad boy sitting on a rock. His name was Leo, and he was sniffing back tears.

"I lost my favorite baseball," Leo said, wiping his eyes. Then he spotted Mabel. "Hey, you found it!"

Mabel purred and rubbed against Leo's legs, making him giggle. But something strange happened—the baseball in her mouth started glowing brighter.

"Whoa," Leo whispered. "That's not my baseball."

The ball floated upward, and suddenly a tiny star popped out! Then another! Soon, ten little stars were dancing around them.

"They're lost stars," Leo realized. "They fell from the sky and got stuck inside that baseball!"

Mabel knew what to do. She leaped gracefully, catching each star in her paws and tossing them back toward the sky. The stars twinkled and soared upward, painting streaks of light across the night.

One last star remained—the smallest one. It nuzzled against Mabel's orange fur before floating up to join the others.

"Thank you," the stars seemed to whisper. "For helping us home."

Leo grinned at Mabel. "We make a pretty good team."

From that night on, Mabel and Leo became best friends. They learned that sometimes the most wonderful adventures happen when you're running after something mysterious—and that helping others (even lost stars) is the best kind of magic of all.

And sometimes, if you look closely at the sky, you might still see a group of stars twinkling extra bright, winking at the orange cat who brought them home.
