The Cat Who Caught Lightning

Mittens was no ordinary cat. She was tiny, orange, and absolutely certain she was destined for greatness.

One rainy afternoon, while all the other cats hid under beds, Mittens sat by the window watching the storm. Raindrops tapped against the glass like tiny fingers asking to come in. Then suddenly—FLASH! A brilliant bolt of lightning streaked across the sky.

Mittens' paws tingled. She wanted to catch that sparkling ribbon of light.

The next morning, the sun broke through the clouds. Mittens discovered a puddle in the garden that shimmered like liquid silver. When she peeked at her reflection, something magical happened. The water began to glow!

"Hello there, little friend," bubbled the puddle.

Mittens jumped backward, her tail poofing up like a dandelion. "You can talk?"

"I'm not just water," the puddle rippled happily. "I'm a piece of the lightning that touched the ground last night! Now we're connected."

Mittens dipped one paw cautiously into the glowing water. ZAP! A tiny spark danced between her toes. It didn't hurt—it felt like a warm, tickly hug.

"Want to see something amazing?" asked the puddle.

The water suddenly lifted up, wrapping around Mittens like a sparkling cocoon. WHOOSH! They floated into the air, Mittens riding on a ball of glowing water. They zoomed above the trees, racing with the wind.

From that day on, whenever it rained, Mittens would rush outside. She became friends with every puddle, learning that the lightning had left gifts of magic all over her town. She could make fountains dance and create rainbows in the spray of her water bowl.

But the most important thing she learned was that true magic isn't about power—it's about friendship. Whenever the garden dried up in summer, Mittens used her water powers to help the flowers grow. When other animals were thirsty, she created puddles for them to drink.

And every stormy night, Mittens would watch the lightning dance across the sky, knowing that somewhere out there, magic was waiting to make the world more wonderful—if you're brave enough to splash in a puddle and believe.

The end.
