The Cat Who Caught Lightning
Mittens was no ordinary cat. She had fur the color of storm clouds and eyes that sparkled like stars. Every night, she would sit on her windowsill, watching the sky and dreaming of adventure.
One stormy evening, as her family slept, Mittens saw something amazing. A bolt of lightning flashed across the sky, but it didn't disappear. Instead, it danced and twirled like a glowing ribbon, landing right in her backyard!
Mittens's heart raced with excitement. She crept outside, her paws making no sound on the wet grass. There, beside the old oak tree, something incredible was happening. The lightning had transformed into a tiny, glowing creature with crackling hair and a friendly smile.
"Hello, little friend," the lightning spark chirped. "I'm Zapper! I got lost during the storm. Can you help me find my way back to the clouds?"
Mittens nodded bravely. Together, they set off on their adventure. But as they reached the edge of the woods, they heard a strange sound: "Braaaains..."
Out stumbled a zombie! But this zombie wasn't scary at all. He had patchwork clothes, a friendly grin, and was carrying a basket of vegetables.
"Actually, I'm looking for garden-fresh beans," said the zombie, whose name was Charlie. "I'm a vegetarian zombie. I help people grow their gardens at night!"
Mittens and Zapper looked at each other and giggled. Sometimes, things that seem scary aren't scary at all—they're just different!
"I can help you all," Charlie said kindly. "I know the tallest hill in town. You'll be able to touch the clouds from there!"
The three unlikely friends climbed the hill together. When they reached the top, Zapper thanked them with a brilliant display of lights, painting the sky with rainbows before zooming home.
Mittens learned something wonderful that night: courage means making friends with those who seem different, and the best adventures are the ones you share.
Now, whenever storms come, Mittens watches the lightning and smiles, remembering her magical night with Zapper and Charlie, the kindest zombie in the world.
