The Cat Who Caught Lightning

Mittens was no ordinary cat. While other cats chased mice or napped in sunbeams, Mittens loved baseball. Every afternoon, he'd sit by the window watching the neighborhood kids play, his paws twitching as he imagined rounding the bases.

One stormy evening, as lightning flashed across the purple sky, something strange happened. A bolt of lightning struck the backyard, and where it hit, a glowing golden pyramid appeared. It shimmered like honey in the twilight.

Mittens crept outside, his curiosity stronger than his fear. The pyramid's sides were covered in mysterious symbols that sparkled like tiny stars. As he circled it, a warm light pulsed from within.

Suddenly, the pyramid's top slid open, and out stepped the biggest, friendliest bear Mittens had ever seen. But this wasn't a scary bear – he wore a baseball cap and carried a mitt!

"I'm Barnaby," the bear rumbled softly. "I've been waiting 300 years for someone who loves baseball as much as I do."

Mittens meowed excitedly and pawed at the baseball cap.

Barnaby laughed, a sound like thunder without the scary parts. "Would you like to play? The pyramid is my home, but it's lonely without friends."

They played catch until the storm passed. When Barnaby had to return to his pyramid home, he made Mittens a promise: every time lightning struck, the pyramid would appear, and they'd play baseball together.

Mittens purred all night, dreaming of home runs and new friends. Sometimes the most magical adventures come when you least expect them – and friendship can be found in the most surprising places, even inside a glowing pyramid in your own backyard.
