The Cat Who Caught Lightning
Lily loved rainy days, especially when the sky flashed with streaks of light. Her grandmother called it lightning, but Lily called it sky magic.
One stormy evening, Lily saw something extraordinary — a cat sitting on her windowsill, but not just any cat. This cat's fur sparkled like tiny stars, and her eyes glowed with the same brilliant light as the sky outside.
"Hello, little one," the cat purred. "My name is Zap. I've been waiting for someone brave enough to see me."
Lily's eyes widened. "You can talk?"
"Only to special children," Zap said, twitching her whiskers. "Would you like to help me collect something magical?"
Without hesitation, Lily grabbed her yellow raincoat and boots. She loved running through rain, splashing in puddles, feeling alive.
Zap led her outside, where the storm danced across the sky. "Watch closely," Zap whispered.
Each time lightning struck, tiny glowing crystals fell from the clouds. Zap darted and leaped, catching them in her paws like magical fireflies.
"These are Sky Vitamins," Zap explained, dropping a shimmering blue crystal into Lily's palm. "They give you the power to see wonder everywhere. They're nature's gift to curious hearts."
Lily felt warmth spread through her hand. The crystal hummed with energy, like a tiny heartbeat.
"But we must share them," Zap continued. "Other children need wonder too, especially those who feel lonely or afraid."
Together, cat and girl spent the whole night running through neighborhoods, leaving glowing crystals on windowsills, tucked in mailboxes, hidden in flower pots. Each one carried a message: "You are magical. You are loved."
By morning, the storm had passed, but the real magic was just beginning. All over town, children woke up finding crystals that helped them see rainbows in puddles, faces in clouds, music in wind chimes.
Lily returned home exhausted but glowing inside. Zap curled up beside her, purring softly.
"Thank you," Lily whispered, scratching Zap's ears.
"Thank YOU," Zap replied. "Wonder is contagious, little one. And tonight, you started an epidemic of joy."
From that day on, whenever Lily saw lightning, she knew it wasn't just weather — it was magic waiting to be shared with the world.
