The Cat Who Caught Lightning

Mango was a small calico cat with bright orange patches, just like the fruit she was named after. She lived on a tiny island where coconut palms swayed in the warm breeze and the ocean sparkled like diamonds every afternoon.

One evening, as dark clouds gathered overhead, Mango spotted something unusual. High in the oldest palm tree on the island, a small blue bird was trapped. Its wing was caught between two rough palm fronds, and it chirped sadly as the wind began to howl.

Mango's heart raced. She was just a little cat—how could she help? But the bird's frightened cries made her brave. She dug her sharp claws into the palm tree's rough bark and climbed higher and higher, her fur whipping in the growing wind.

Just as she reached the bird, a brilliant flash of lightning illuminated the entire island. In that magical moment, Mango saw something impossible—the lightning had struck the very top of their palm tree, and instead of burning it, the electricity had transformed the trapped fronds into glowing, golden light.

The bird's wing was free! As it fluttered gratefully around Mango's head, the little cat realized something wonderful: sometimes the scariest things can bring the most beautiful surprises.

From that day on, Mango and the blue bird, whom she named Bolt, became the best of friends. And whenever lightning streaked across the night sky, Mango would purr happily, remembering the storm that gave her courage and brought her a friend for life.

For even the smallest cat can be brave when someone needs help, and even the fiercest storm can create something magical.
