The Cat Who Caught Lightning
On a tiny island where palm trees danced in the warm breeze, there lived a small orange cat named Miko. Most cats liked to chase mice or sleep in the sun, but Miko was different. Miko loved to watch storms.
One evening, as dark clouds gathered above the island, Miko sat perched on his favorite palm tree. The wind rustled the fronds around him like gentle fingers. CRACK! A bolt of lightning flashed across the sky, splitting the darkness with brilliant white light.
Miko's green eyes grew wide. He had never seen anything so beautiful. Another flash of lightning streaked closer, and something magical happened – a tiny spark jumped from the sky and landed right on Miko's nose!
The little cat blinked in surprise. The spark didn't hurt. Instead, it made his fur tingle with warmth. When Miko opened his mouth to meow, a tiny bolt of lightning came out instead!
Just then, he heard crying from the beach below. A little girl had dropped her favorite seashell necklace into the dark water, and the waves were pulling it deeper.
Miko knew what he had to do. He climbed down the palm tree and stood at the water's edge. The lightning in his fur glowed brighter than the moon above. With a gentle zap, he sent a small bolt toward the water. The lightning didn't hurt the ocean – it simply made the water glow, revealing the necklace sparkling on the sand below.
The girl reached down and grabbed her necklace, safe and sound. "Thank you, magical cat!" she cheered, hugging Miko tight.
Miko purred with pride. He had discovered something wonderful: being different was actually his greatest gift. From that day on, whenever the island needed help, everyone knew to look for the cat who carried lightning in his fur and kindness in his heart.
And sometimes, if you visit the island during a storm, you might still see Miko sitting in his palm tree, catching lightning and sharing its magic with anyone who needs a little spark of hope.
