The Cat Who Caught Lightning
Midnight was a small black cat with the brightest yellow eyes anyone had ever seen. She lived with a kind farmer and his family, but Midnight had a secret: she could see magic that no one else could.
One hot summer afternoon, the sky grew dark. Storm clouds gathered like enormous gray pillows. The farmer's animals hurried to the barn, but Midnight felt curious. She padded toward the old swimming pool behind the farmhouse. Most of the time, it was full of water for the children to play in. But today, something was different.
As the first rumble of thunder shook the ground, Midnight peered into the pool. It wasn't empty — it shimmered with starlight, even though it was daytime!
Suddenly, a magnificent white bull appeared beside her. He glowed softly, like moonlight made solid. His eyes were kind and ancient.
"I am Fernando," the bull said gently. "I come from the stars when lightning fills the sky. This magic pool opens only during storms."
Midnight's whiskers trembled. "Are you... real?"
"As real as courage," Fernando smiled. "Would you like to see something wonderful?"
He dipped his horn into the shimmering pool. A bolt of lightning flashed overhead — but instead of disappearing, it danced down and circled around them! The lightning wasn't scary at all. It was like ribbons of golden light, weaving through the air, creating pictures of cats and bulls playing together among the stars.
"Lightning carries stories from the sky," Fernando explained. "Most creatures run from it. But you, little cat — you stayed to learn."
Midnight felt proud. She had been brave, and now she saw something no one else would ever believe.
The storm passed. The pool returned to normal. Fernando touched his nose to Midnight's forehead. "Remember: courage isn't about being big or strong. It's about staying curious, even when things seem scary."
With a flash of golden light, he was gone.
That night, as Midnight curled up in her cozy basket, she knew something special: she wasn't just an ordinary cat. She was a cat who had caught lightning in her heart — and that made her the bravest cat of all.
And sometimes, when storms come, she still runs to the pool. Just in case Fernando comes back to visit.
