The Cat Who Cast Moonlight Spells

Lily sat on her balcony watching the padel court below. Every evening, she'd see children laughing and hitting the ball back and forth, their racquets swinging like magic wands. But Lily was too shy to join them.

One starry night, a cat with fur that sparkled like crushed diamonds appeared on her balcony railing. His eyes were the color of moonbeams.

"I'm Oliver," the cat said. "And I know why you're lonely."

Lily gasped. "You can talk?"

"I can do more than talk," Oliver purred. "Come with me at midnight to the padel court. There's something magical you need to see."

When the clock struck twelve, Oliver led Lily downstairs. The padel court was glowing with a soft blue light. The moment Lily stepped inside, the glass walls transformed into windows showing different worlds.

"This is the Friendship Court," Oliver explained. "It appears only for those who need a friend."

Suddenly, a boy about Lily's age stepped through the glowing glass wall. His name was Marco, and he had been watching the padel court from his own balcony, feeling just as shy as Lily.

"I've always wanted to play," Marco whispered, "but I didn't have anyone to play with."

Oliver trotted onto the court, batting a magical ball that appeared from nowhere. "Play!" he meowed.

Lily and Marco laughed as they played with the cat darting between them, making impossible catches. The glass walls reflected their joy, and for the first time, Lily didn't feel shy at all.

"You don't have to wait for magic to find friends," Oliver told them as the court began to fade. "Sometimes, all you need is the courage to say hello."

The next morning, Lily waved at Marco on the real padel court. Oliver slept on her balcony, a tiny bell on his collar that jingled like friendship. Some cats, Lily discovered, were very good at casting spells — the kind that bring friends together.
