The Cat Who Befriended the Moon
Luna was a small black cat with bright yellow eyes that shone like tiny moons. Every night, while her family slept, she would sneak to the backyard and gaze at the moon, wishing she could visit it.
One particularly starry evening, Luna noticed something strange. A beam of moonlight had turned into liquid, pooling on the grass like silver water. Curious, she dipped her paw in. Instead of getting wet, her paw sparkled with magic dust.
"Follow me," whispered a voice like gentle chimes.
Luna looked up. A sphinx made of moonlight and starlight stood before her — half cat, half something ancient and wise. The sphinx's fur gleamed like pearls, and her eyes held the wisdom of a thousand years.
"I am Moonkeeper," the sphinx said. "I guard the secrets of the night. But I am lonely. Will you be my friend?"
Luna's heart fluttered. "Yes!"
Moonkeeper extended her palm — a soft, glowing paw-pad. "Take my paw, and I will show you wonders."
Together they soared through the sky, riding moonbeams like slides. They danced with fireflies, painted constellations with star-dust, and made friends with shy cloud creatures.
But soon Luna grew worried. "My family will miss me."
Moonkeeper smiled. "True friendship knows both distance and closeness. I will bring you home, but you must promise to visit me in your dreams."
Luna agreed. When she woke in her own bed, a tiny moon-shaped mark glowed on her paw. Every night since, Luna visits Moonkeeper in her dreams, and every morning, she wakes knowing that true friends are never far apart — even when they're worlds away.
The end.
