The Cat Who Became a Spy

Mittens was no ordinary **cat**. While other cats chased mice or napped in sunbeams, Mittens had a secret job — she was a **spy**!

Every night, she crept through the garden with her special spy notebook tucked in her collar. One evening, she discovered something magical behind the old oak tree.

A miniature **pyramid** glowed with golden light, no bigger than a lunchbox. Strange symbols pulsed along its sides. But there was a problem — the pyramid sat at the bottom of the swimming **pool**!

On the fourth night, a wise old turtle named Sheldon climbed onto the pool's edge.

"The pyramid opens only for those who are brave," Sheldon said slowly. "But to reach it, you must hold your breath longer than any cat can."

Mittens sighed. "I'll never make it."

Sheldon smiled. "Unless you eat the magic green leaves that grow by the garden wall."

"**Spinach**?" Mittens wrinkled her nose. "But that's yucky!"

"Sometimes," Sheldon said, "the things we think are yucky are exactly what we need."

Mittens thought about all the mysteries she'd solved as a spy. Then she took a deep breath and ate a spinach leaf.

Something magical happened! Mittens felt light as a bubble. She could breathe underwater!

She dove into the pool and swam straight to the pyramid. When she touched it, the pyramid opened to reveal... a tiny kingdom of mermaid kittens!

"We've been waiting for a brave spy like you!" they cheered. "Will you be our friend?"

Mittens had found the greatest adventure of all — new friends in a magical world.
