The Cat Who Ate Starlight
Luna was a small gray cat with bright yellow eyes and a very big curiosity. She lived with her human, a kind scientist named Dr. Sophie, who studied stars. One night, Luna snuck into Sophie's laboratory and discovered something magical—a tiny bottle labeled 'STARS' that actually contained pieces of fallen stars, sparkling like liquid diamonds.
Luna licked the bottle. The starlight tasted like peppermint and moonbeams! Suddenly, she began to glow softly, and her paws felt lighter than air. To her amazement, she floated upward, right through an open window and into the night sky!
Higher and higher she sailed, past rooftops and clouds, until she reached the moon. There, resting in a crater, sat the most magnificent creature Luna had ever seen—a sphinx with fur as white as snow, large feathered wings, and eyes that held the wisdom of centuries.
'Welcome, little star-drinker,' the sphinx purred in a voice like distant thunder. 'I am Aurora, guardian of moon riddles. Few cats dare to drink starlight, for it is a powerful vitamin for the soul. It grants you the ability to speak with any creature, and to see what others cannot.'
Luna's eyes widened. 'I didn't know stars were vitamins!'
'The best kind,' Aurora nodded. 'Now, perhaps you can help me. I have forgotten an important riddle, and without it, I cannot protect the dreams of children. Would you journey to the Valley of Whispers and retrieve the answer for me?'
Luna's heart raced with adventure. She wanted to prove herself brave. 'I will!' she declared.
Aurora touched Luna's forehead with a wing tip. 'Then take this—the vitamin of courage. One drop when you need it most.' She pressed a small blue vial into Luna's paw.
Luna soared to the Valley of Whispers, a magical place where echoes of forgotten dreams floated like glowing bubbles. There she met an ancient turtle who spoke the missing riddle: 'What shines without burning, warms without touching, and returns even after the darkest night?'
Luna thought carefully. 'Hope!' she cried.
The answer sparkled and flew back to the moon. Aurora smiled and touched Luna's forehead again. 'You have restored hope to children's dreams. Your courage, dear cat, was the real vitamin all along.'
Luna returned home, her glow fading but her heart full. She curled up beside Sophie, knowing that even the smallest cat could do the biggest things—with a little starlight, a lot of courage, and friends who believe in you.
