The Cat's Orange Dream
Mittens was a small gray cat with bright green eyes who loved to explore. One sunny afternoon, she found something peculiar in Mrs. Higgins' garden—a round, bright **orange** that seemed to glow in the sunlight.
Mittens had never seen anything like it before. She batted at it with her paw, and the orange rolled across the grass toward the old swimming **pool** that had been empty for years. But today, something magical happened. As the orange touched the pool's edge, crystal-clear water suddenly appeared, sparkling like diamonds.
The orange floated on the water's surface, and Mittens leaned closer for a better look. That's when she saw it—the reflection in the water wasn't just her own face. It showed another cat, just like her, but wearing a tiny golden crown!
"Hello!" called the reflection-cat. "I'm Princess Marmalade from the Orange Kingdom. We need your help!"
Before Mittens could meow a question, the orange on the water began to grow bigger and bigger, until it became a magical boat. Mittens, being the adventurous cat she was, hopped right in.
The orange boat carried her across the magical pool and into a world where everything was made of oranges—orange trees, orange flowers, even orange clouds in the sky!
Princess Marmalade explained that her kingdom had lost its sparkle, and only a brave cat from the human world could help restore it. The problem was, everyone in the Orange Kingdom had forgotten how to share.
Mittens knew just what to do. Back home, she had learned that sharing made everyone happy. She gathered all the royal oranges and arranged a great feast, inviting every creature in the kingdom. The grumpy birds, the shy squirrels, even the lonely badgers—all came together.
As they shared the delicious oranges, something wonderful happened. The kingdom began to sparkle again! The orange clouds glowed brighter, the orange trees bloomed with joy, and everyone laughed together.
Princess Marmalade thanked Mittens with a special gift—a tiny orange collar that would always bring her luck. The orange boat carried Mittens back through the pool, which became empty again as if nothing had happened.
But Mittens knew it was real. From that day on, she always shared her treats with the other neighborhood cats, and sometimes, when the sun hit her orange collar just right, she could still see the sparkle of the Orange Kingdom.
And every time she saw an orange, she would smile, remembering that the best adventures begin with kindness and friendship.
