The Cat's Magical Baseball
Leo poked at the green mound on his plate. 'I don't want spinach,' he grumbled.
From the windowsill, his cat Mocha meowed loudly and jumped onto the table. But this wasn't ordinary Mocha—today, the cat's orange fur shimmered with tiny sparkles.
'You need the spinach, Leo!' Mocha said. Leo's eyes went wide. 'You can talk?'
'I've always been able to talk,' Mocha purred. 'But today is special. Today we have a baseball game!' She tapped her paw on Leo's plate. 'The spinach gives you magic power for hitting.'
Leo still wasn't sure, but he trusted his friend. He ate every bite. Suddenly, he felt energy buzz through his fingertips like tiny lightning bolts!
Mocha led him outside to the pond. 'Watch this!' The cat waved her tail, and the water transformed into a sparkling diamond made entirely of liquid. Bases floated like lily pads.
'First batter—you!' Mocha handed Leo a glowing bat. A cloud-pitcher wound up and threw a star-shaped ball.
CRACK! Leo hit it so hard it created a rainbow as it soared. He rounded the floating bases while mermaids cheered from the reeds.
But then Leo noticed something sad. A little fish sat on the bank, watching. 'What's wrong?'
'I want to play, but I have no hands for the bat,' the fish said sadly.
Leo looked at his magical spinach-powered hands, then at the fish. He had an idea. He used his bat to gently tap the water, creating a floating bubble around the fish. 'Now you can float to each base!'
The fish smiled—do fish smile? This one certainly did—and zipped around the diamond while the whole pond erupted in splashy applause.
Mocha nudged Leo's leg. 'You know what the real magic is?' The cat's sparkles were fading now. 'Spinach gives energy. But sharing—that's what makes it special.'
As the water-pond dissolved back into an ordinary pond, Leo realized something important. He hadn't just hit a magical home run. He'd made a new friend.
'Maybe tomorrow,' Leo told Mocha, 'I'll try the carrots too. Just in case.'
Mocha winked. 'I think you're magical enough already.'
