The Cat's Magic Water Drops
Lily lived in a house with a blue door, but she didn't have anyone to play with. Every day after school, she'd sit by the stream behind her house and skip stones alone.
One Tuesday, something splashed in the water. Lily leaned over the edge and saw the strangest thing—a cat wearing a tiny red hat, paddling like a little boat!
"Hello there!" Lily called.
The cat swam to shore and shook itself dry like a dog. It had the softest orange fur, like sunshine.
"I'm Oliver," said the cat. "And you look lonely."
Lily's eyes went wide. "You can talk?"
"I can do lots of things," Oliver purred. "Come with me."
He led her through the woods to a hidden pond where the water sparkled like diamonds. In the center grew a plant with glowing blue berries.
"These are friendship vitamins," Oliver explained. "One bite, and you'll find exactly who you need."
Lily took a berry. It tasted like summer and starlight.
The next morning, a new girl named Sophie moved in next door. She had a cat too—a gray one named Mittens. The cats met first, touching noses like old friends.
"Your cat is wearing a hat," Sophie said, smiling.
"His name's Oliver," Lily said. "Want to play by the stream?"
"Yes!"
They spent every day together, splashing in the water and laughing until their sides hurt. Oliver and Mittens would nap side by side in the sun.
One day, Sophie looked at Lily. "You're my best friend, you know that?"
Lily smiled. Sometimes the best vitamins aren't the kind you swallow. They're the ones that find you when you need them most—wrapped in fur, wearing red hats, and waiting by the water.
That night, both cats purred on the windowsill, their tails tangled together like friendship bracelets made of fur.
