The Cat in the Pillow Pyramid
Lucy was lonely. Every day after school, she sat in her room wishing for a friend. One rainy afternoon, she had an idea. She piled all her pillows—fluffy ones, square ones, even her favorite unicorn pillow—into the tallest tower she could build.
"I'll make a pyramid," Lucy said, stacking the last pink pillow on top. She stepped back to admire her work. The pillow pyramid reached almost to the ceiling!
Suddenly, the pillow pyramid began to glow. A soft golden light shimmered between the cushions. Lucy held her breath as the pillows parted like curtains, and inside sat the most beautiful cat she had ever seen.
The cat had fur like sunset orange with white paws and the brightest green eyes. "Hello, Lucy," the cat said, in a voice like tinkling bells.
Lucy's eyes went wide. "You can talk!"
"Of course I can talk!" The cat stepped gracefully out of the pillow pyramid. "I'm Cleo, and I've been waiting for someone to build the right pyramid. You see, pillow pyramids are magical doorways for cats who want to find friends."
"Friends?" Lucy's heart beat fast. "You want to be my friend?"
Cleo rubbed her soft head against Lucy's hand. "I've been looking for a friend who loves to build and imagine. I think that's you."
From that day on, Lucy was never lonely. She and Cleo had adventures in worlds inside the pillow pyramid—candy forests, cloud kingdoms, and oceans made of lemonade. They discovered that the best pyramids aren't made of stone in Egypt, but built with love and imagination.
Cleo taught Lucy something important: true friends find each other in the most unexpected ways. Sometimes, all you need to do is build something with hope, and magic will find you.
Now every afternoon, Lucy rebuilds her pillow pyramid. And every time, Cleo appears with new adventures and a warm, rumbling purr that says, "I'm so glad we're friends."
Lucy learned that friendship is the greatest magic of all. And it all started with a stack of pillows and an open heart.
