The Cable Car to Cloud Baseball
Lily loved baseball more than anything. Every day after school, she'd grab her glove and run to the park. But today was different. Today, she found something magical.
Behind the old oak tree, where nobody ever looked, there was a rusty cable. It stretched up into the clouds, disappearing into the blue sky. Attached to it was a tiny basket, just big enough for one.
"Whoa," Lily whispered. She stepped inside, and suddenly—whoosh! The basket lifted her up, up, up, climbing the cable into the sky.
At the top, she couldn't believe her eyes. A floating island of fluffy white clouds appeared. In the center, a baseball field made of sparkly mist waited. But the most amazing part? The players weren't kids or adults. They were cloud creatures—soft and puffy, with gentle smiles.
"Welcome, Lily!" a cloud boy called. "Want to play?"
But Lily noticed something sad. The cloud creatures couldn't pick up the baseballs. Their misty hands went right through them.
"I have an idea!" Lily said. She took off her backpack and found her water bottle. "What if we make the baseballs from water? Then you can shape them with your thoughts!"
She poured water into a puddle, and the cloud creatures concentrated. Swoosh—the water formed perfect baseballs that floated in the air!
They played the most magical game ever. The cloud creatures could catch, throw, and hit the water baseballs. When a ball went too far, it turned into rain and sprinkled down on the real world below.
"Thank you, Lily!" the cloud boy said when the sun began to set. "You showed us that sometimes we just need the right friend to solve our problems."
Lily climbed back down the cable, her heart full of joy. From that day on, whenever it rained during her baseball games, she knew her cloud friends were playing too—and she remembered that kindness and creativity can solve any problem.
