The Cable Car Moon Friend
Lily loved the old cable car that took her up to see her grandmother. Every Sunday, she'd watch the silver cable sparkle against the sky like a magic thread pulling her toward adventure.
One afternoon, the cable car stopped halfway up the mountain. Lily peeked out and saw something strange—a small green figure with messy orange hair hopping from rock to rock!
"Are you a zombie?" Lily called out, remembering the scary stories her brother told.
The creature looked up with big, friendly eyes. "I'm Zim! And you look like you could use a friend."
Zim wasn't scary at all. He explained that his wild orange hair glowed when he was happy, and right now it was twinkling like stars. Zim had always wanted to ride the cable car, but he was too little to reach.
"I can help!" Lily said. She lifted Zim into the cable car, and together they watched the world below—trees like green broccoli, houses like toy blocks.
When they reached the top, Grandmother surprised them with warm cookies. "Zim's hair is beautiful," she said, smiling. "It reminds me of sunset clouds."
Zim beamed, and his orange hair glowed even brighter.
That day, Lily learned that sometimes the things we think are scary are actually just friends we haven't met yet. And now, every Sunday, Zim rides the cable car with Lily, his hair lighting up the sky like a tiny, joyful moon.
Because the best adventures are the ones we share with friends—whether they have wild hair, green skin, or look just like us.
