The Cable Car Monster

Lily loved riding the shiny cable car that zoomed across the valley every Sunday. She would press her nose against the glass window, watching the world below shrink into tiny green patches. But one foggy afternoon, the cable car suddenly stopped—right in the middle of nowhere!

Lily peeked through the mist and saw a small island floating in the sky. Something was moving there! Her heart beat faster as she spotted a lumpy green figure stumbling about. It looked just like the zombies from her big brother's video games!

The creature looked up. Its hair was a wild tangle of purple vines, and its eyes were sleepy and sad. To Lily's surprise, it waved!

"Hello!" the zombie called out. "I'm Zed. I'm not scary—I'm just lonely! And my hair is always full of leaves because I live here all alone."

Lily gasped. "You're the Sky Island Guardian! My grandmother told me stories about you!"

Zed smiled. "I used to be, but I forgot how to do my job. No one visits anymore."

"I'll visit!" Lily promised. "Every week on the cable car!"

Zed's hair suddenly bloomed with bright flowers instead of leaves. The cable car started moving again, humming with magical energy.

"Thank you, Lily!" Zed cheered. "Friendship is the strongest magic!"

From that day on, Lily always waved to Zed from the cable car. And sometimes, when she looked closely, she could see flowers dancing in his purple hair—a reminder that even the loneliest hearts can bloom when someone cares.
