The Bull Who Swam with Lightning
Once there was a gentle bull named Barnaby who lived near a sparkling river. Unlike other bulls who loved to run in dusty fields, Barnaby loved **water**. Every morning, he would wade into the cool river and splash about with his big hooves, sending sparkling droplets into the air.
One hot summer afternoon, Barnaby heard crying near the riverbank. A little girl named Lila sat there, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"What's wrong?" Barnaby asked kindly (yes, Barnaby could talk — magical things happen near rivers!).
"I dropped my favorite **orange** marble into the deep water," Lila sobbed. "It was a gift from my grandmother, and I'll never find it again."
Barnaby looked at the clear water, then back at Lila's sad face. "I can help you," he said bravely. "But I'll need to do something no bull has ever done before."
Barnaby took a deep breath and began **swimming**. His powerful legs paddled gracefully through the water, creating gentle ripples. Down he dove, deeper and deeper, until the river grew dark and mysterious.
Suddenly, storm clouds gathered overhead. **Lightning** flashed across the sky, casting a magical glow that illuminated the riverbed like thousands of tiny stars. In that magical light, Barnaby spotted the orange marble resting on a smooth stone near the bottom.
He carefully scooped it up in his gentle mouth and surfaced just as the first raindrops began to fall. Lila cheered with joy as Barnaby climbed onto the bank and dropped the precious marble into her hand.
"Thank you, Barnaby!" she cried, hugging his wet nose. "You're not just a bull — you're a magical swimming bull!"
From that day on, Barnaby and Lila were best friends. They discovered that being different — like a bull who loved swimming — was what made Barnaby special. And whenever storms came, they would watch the lightning together, knowing that the most extraordinary magic comes from being brave enough to be yourself and help others, even when it seems impossible.
