The Bull Who Swam Through Stars
Barnaby was a small orange cat with big dreams. Every night, he sat on the farm fence watching the old bull Ferdinand graze in the moonlit field. Ferdinand was enormous and gentle, with horns that curved like crescent moons.
One magical night, Barnaby noticed something strange. Ferdinand wasn't walking — he was swimming! But not through water. The old bull was gliding through the sparkly night air as if it were an ocean, his heavy hooves making gentle ripples through the starlight itself.
"How?" Barnaby whispered, his green eyes wide.
Ferdinand floated closer and smiled. "On full moon nights, the air becomes swimming water for those who believe in magic. Would you like to join me, little friend?"
Barnaby's tail puffed up. Cats didn't swim! Cats stayed dry and safe. But something about Ferdinand's kind eyes made Barnaby brave.
"I'm scared," Barnaby admitted.
"Being brave doesn't mean you're not scared," Ferdinand said wisely. "It means trying new things even when you ARE scared."
Barnaby took a deep breath and leaped from the fence. Instead of falling, he found himself paddling through the warm, glowing night air. All around them, stars twinkled like tiny silver fish darting through an invisible sea.
They swam past the moon, which smiled down like a friendly lantern. They visited constellations that looked like ice cream scoops and dancing bears. Barnaby even tried doing a cat-paddle, making Ferdinand chuckle with deep, friendly sounds.
"Tomorrow," Ferdinand promised, "the air will be just air again. But tonight, we're both swimming through stars."
When they returned to the farm at dawn, Barnaby curled up beside Ferdinand, his fur messy from their magical midnight swim. He had learned something wonderful: sometimes the scariest adventures become the most beautiful friendships.
And every full moon after that, the small cat and the gentle bull went swimming through the starry sky, best friends dancing among dreams.
