The Bull Who Spied on Stars
Barnaby was not like other bulls. While they stomped and snorted in the pasture, Barnaby preferred to sit quietly beneath the old palm tree at the edge of the farm, his large brown eyes filled with wonder.
"What are you doing, Barnaby?" the other bulls would laugh. "Bulls should be strong and fierce!"
But Barnaby just smiled and returned to his favorite hobby: he was a spy. Not the sneaky kind who steals secrets, but a spy of the magical sort—the kind who notices things others miss.
Every evening, Barnaby would spy on the sunset as it painted the sky in colors no artist could copy. He would spy on the fireflies as they performed their nightly light shows. And most of all, he would spy on the stars.
The old palm tree, with her fronds whispering in the breeze, was his only friend. She understood Barnaby's gentle heart.
"You see the world differently, Barnaby," the palm tree said one night. "That is your gift."
Then something magical happened. A shooting star streaked across the sky—a message from the moon, written just for Barnaby. It said: "We need someone brave and gentle to help lost starlings find their way home. Will you be our sky spy?"
Barnaby's heart soared! For the first time, being different felt exactly right.
Every night after that, Barnaby would spy from beneath his palm friend, guiding lost stars back to their constellations with his warm, glowing eyes. The other bulls eventually noticed too.
"Can we help?" they asked shyly.
Soon, all the bulls were sky spies, but none were quite as gentle and observant as Barnaby, the bull who had dared to sit beneath a palm tree and dream of stars.
And sometimes, if you look closely at the night sky, you might still see a special constellation that looks just like a bull sitting beneath a palm, forever watching over the stars—and reminding everyone that being yourself is the greatest adventure of all.
