The Bull Who Rode Lightning
Lily loved her toy bull, Barnaby. He was small and brown, with horns that curved like crescent moons. Every afternoon, she sat by the edge of the swimming pool, making Barnaby splash in the cool blue water.
One hot summer day, dark clouds gathered overhead. CRACK! Lightning flashed across the sky like a brilliant white snake. Thunder rumbled so loudly that the pool's surface shivered.
Lily held Barnaby tight. "Don't be scared," she whispered to her toy.
Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck the pool! Sparkles danced across the water like tiny stars. When Lily looked down at Barnaby, something magical happened. Her toy bull blinked his painted eyes!
"Barnaby?" Lily gasped.
The bull stretched his plastic legs, which were suddenly covered in soft brown fur. "I'm alive! And look, Lily — I glow with lightning magic!"
Barnaby's horns shimmered with the same brilliant light that had flashed from the sky. "Let's have an adventure!" he said, leaping into the pool.
But instead of sinking, Barnaby trotted across the water's surface! Each hoof step left a ripple that glowed with golden light. Lily reached out her hand, and to her surprise, she could walk on water too!
Together they danced on the pool as lightning flashed overhead, painting the sky with brilliant colors. Other toys from Lily's bag — a rubber duck, a plastic horse, a sparkly fish — all came alive and joined their magical pool party.
"This is the best adventure ever!" laughed Lily, spinning around with Barnaby as lightning created rainbows in the water below.
When the storm passed and the sun peeked through the clouds, Barnaby became a toy again. But Lily noticed something new — a tiny lightning bolt symbol painted on his side, shining with a soft glow.
That night, Lily kept Barnaby on her pillow. Sometimes, during summer storms, she could hear him whisper: "Remember, magic lives in the most surprising places — even in a pool, during lightning, with a friend by your side."
And every time she saw lightning, Lily smiled, knowing that somewhere, magic was waiting to make the impossible possible.
