The Bull Who Painted Sunsets
Lily loved visiting her grandmother's farm, especially the old orange tree in the back yard. But today was different. Today she heard something strange.
Behind the wooden fence, the biggest bull she'd ever seen was doing something impossible. He was holding a paintbrush in his mouth, painting on a long, shimmering cable that stretched all the way up to the clouds!
The bull, whose name was Barnaby, noticed Lily watching. His large brown eyes twinkled like stars.
"Would you like to help?" he asked softly. "I'm painting a new sunset for tonight."
Lily's dog, Max, who had been sleeping in the orange blossoms, jumped up excitedly. His tail wagged so fast it looked like a fuzzy helicopter propeller!
"But bulls don't paint," Lily said, her eyes wide with wonder.
"Ordinary bulls don't," Barnaby smiled. "But I'm no ordinary bull. Every evening, I climb this magic cable to the sky workshop where we mix colors for sunsets. Would you like to see?"
Lily and Max followed Barnaby to the shimmering cable. It hummed with gentle music as they began to climb. Up and up they went, past birds who sang curious songs, through clouds that felt like cotton candy.
At the top, Lily gasped. Hundreds of sky-animals were mixing colors! A bear was stirring orange paint, while rabbits blended pink and purple. Barnaby handed Lily a brush.
"What color should tonight's sunset be?" he asked.
Lily thought hard. She dipped her brush in orange—her favorite color—and swirled it with soft pink and bright yellow. Together, she and Barnaby painted the most beautiful sunset anyone had ever seen.
That evening, as Lily and Max watched from below, the sky glowed with exactly the colors they had mixed. People all over town stopped to look.
"The most beautiful sunset yet!" they exclaimed.
Lily patted Barnaby's giant head. "I learned something today," she whispered. "Even bulls can paint sunsets if they believe in themselves."
"And," added Max, barking happily, "even little girls can help paint the sky!"
From that day on, Lily knew the most important secret of all: magic happens when you're brave enough to climb toward your dreams, and the world is full of friends you haven't met yet.
