The Bull Who Needed a Friend
Barnaby was a very unusual bull. While other bulls snorted and stomped and looked fierce, Barnaby was gentle as a summer breeze. His dark brown hair curled softly between his horns, and he spent his days watching clouds instead of chasing cowboys.
The other animals laughed. "A bull who doesn't act like a bull!" they said. Barnaby's hair drooped, and his heart felt heavy.
One evening, as the stars began to twinkle, a little girl named Luna climbed over the farm fence. She had wild red hair that crackled with static electricity—so much that when she petted Barnaby's nose, tiny sparks danced between them.
"Hello," Luna whispered. "I've been looking for a friend."
Barnaby's eyes widened. No one had ever wanted to be his friend before! He lowered his massive head, and Luna scratched behind his ears. Her hair glowed softly, like fireflies.
"What's your name?" she asked.
Barnaby wanted to answer, but bulls can't speak. Instead, he nudged her gently with his soft nose.
Luna giggled. "I'll call you Softie. But you know what?" She stepped back and looked at him with wonder. "Your hair is magic. When you're happy, it shimmers like moonlight. When you're sad, it turns gray."
Barnaby looked at his reflection in the water trough. She was right—his brown hair was now shimmering silver!
"Come with me," Luna said, grabbing his horn. "I know somewhere wonderful."
Together they climbed the highest hill. Luna's hair crackled and glowed, illuminating the path. When they reached the top, the whole sky stretched before them, filled with a billion stars.
"Make a wish," Luna said.
Barnaby closed his eyes and wished with all his heart. When he opened them, something incredible happened—his hair began to float upward, reaching toward the stars, glowing with golden light. One by one, stars came down and tangled in his hair, making him sparkle like the night sky.
"You're beautiful," Luna breathed. "And you're my best friend."
From that night on, Barnaby was never alone. His magical glowing hair reminded him that being different was actually being special. And Luna learned that the best friends aren't the ones who act like everyone else—they're the ones who light up your life just by being themselves.
Sometimes, if you look very carefully at the night sky, you can still see a bull with shimmering hair, carrying stars between his horns, reminding everyone that courage comes in all shapes and sizes.
