The Bull Who Loved to Swim
Maggie discovered the shiny iPhone lying in the tall grass near Farmer Green's fence. She picked it up carefully, wondering who had lost such a treasure. The screen still worked, showing pictures of cows and fields.
"Looking for something?" a deep, gentle voice rumbled.
Maggie jumped! Behind the fence stood the biggest bull she had ever seen, with golden-brown fur and kind eyes. Most bulls looked scary, but this one smiled warmly.
"I'm Barnaby," the bull said. "That belongs to Tim, the farmer's grandson. He drops things constantly."
Maggie reached through the fence to hand it over, but Barnaby shook his massive head. "I can't hold it with my hooves. Follow me!"
Thinking this was a strange adventure, Maggie crawled through a loose board in the fence. Barnaby led her past the barn, through a meadow filled with butterflies, to a hidden spot behind some willow trees.
There, sparkling in the sunlight, was the most beautiful swimming hole she had ever seen. A small waterfall splashed into crystal-clear water surrounded by smooth rocks and wildflowers.
"My secret place," Barnaby said proudly. "Would you like to go swimming?"
"Bulls can't swim!" Maggie exclaimed.
"Watch me," Barnaby said playfully.
To Maggie's amazement, the bull stepped into the water and began swimming beautifully! He did cannonballs and back floats, even making giant waves with his nose. Maggie jumped in too, splashing and laughing with her new friend.
They swam for hours until the iPhone on the shore began ringing—Tim was calling! Maggie dried her hands and answered.
"Found it!" she told Tim. "I'm with Barnaby at the secret swimming hole."
"Barnaby? That's our swimming bull!" Tim laughed. "Grandpa says he's been swimming there since he was a baby. Bring him home, please!"
As Maggie walked back, she learned something wonderful: things aren't always what they seem. Even big, scary-looking bulls might love swimming, and adventures can start with something as simple as finding a lost phone.
That summer, Maggie visited Barnaby often. They became the best of friends, swimming and splashing in the secret pond. And sometimes, Maggie would take pictures of their adventures with Tim's iPhone, capturing memories of the most magical summer of her life.
Because the best friendships are the ones that surprise you the most.
